Leaving behind the plains of north India, after exploring the high lights of Delhi and admiring the golden temple of Amritsar, we head towards the foothills of Himalayas. Our first halt is at Dalhousie, a Raj Hill Station, named after Lord Dalhousie. From here we move on to Dharamsala where we will have ample time to explore the Tibetan culture and his holiness Dalai Lamas monastery as well as his administrative center in exile. Our next destination is Taragarh where we will be staying and relax at Taragarh Palace converted into a hotel. After enjoying our stay at this palace, we drive up to Kullu valley, where we relax and explore more of Himalayan valleys. We spend the last two nights in the Himalayan region at Shimla, a major British hill station with some resemblance to Old England.

After leisurely breakfast and enjoying the beauty and tranquility of the Dalhousie, drive through panoramic hilly roads to Dharamsala, the seat of HH Dalai Lama in exile since 1960. He runs complete administration from here. Arrive and check in at a hotel.

We spent full day to explore HH Dalai Lama’s monastery with giant image of Avalokeshvar in Mcleodganj, Tibetan handicraft and medical centre. Late afternoon a short drive to 1930s Taragarh Palace which lies in the scenic Kagra valley, en – route, on the way to lower Dharamsala, a brief stop at St. John’s church in wilderness. Arrive Taragarh, check-in at the Taragarh palace, converted into a hotel.

At leisure to enjoy the beauty of this palace and that of the green Kangra valley.

Morning depart puts us on a day long journey via Mandi into lush green Kulu, Valley, famous for apple orchards and angora woolens. Arrive and Check-in at a hotel.

Full day at leisure for relaxation.

Another day long drive through scenic roads takes us to Shimla, situated at an altitude of 7,000 ft. It is a major metropolitan hill station of Raj era and presently capital of Himachal Pradesh State. Arrive and check. – in at hotel.

Shimla is situated at a height of 2,100 mts. (6,900 ft.) spread over 12 Km. along a ridge. In spite of changes and considerable growth since India became independent, Shimla, perhaps more than any other spot in India, still present substantial evidence of an attempt by the English to build an English town in India. Relics of styles of building long forgotten in Britain are still evident here.

This morning we leave behind the Himalayan foot hills, come back down to plains, close by Chandigarh, we explore the Pinjore gardens then continue the drive on to Delhi via national highway. Arrive Delhi and check – in at hotel for overnight stay.

Early morning transfer to an airport in time to board the homeward flight.
