Day 2 In
Delhi |
|
After briefing
over breakfast by tour leader, we explore mutiny
sites of Delhi, a visit to Flag Staff tower,
Drive pass Ludlow castle (see outside only),
then stop at Mutiny Monument (also known as
Ajit Garh) a Mutiny Memorial built to commemorate
the British and the Indians who fought on their
sides in 1857. From here we will move to Nicholson’s
grave and Kashmiri Gate area - Built in 1835.
Before halting for lunch, we will visit St.
James Church. After lunch, we plan to explore
giant Red Fort, which stands along the eastern
edge of the walled city, on the west bank of
the Yamuna River. If time allows, we may give
a look at Coronation Park, where the statues
of British Royalties and nobilities are kept.

Day 5 Arrive
Lucknow |
|
In the
morning arrive at Lucknow and transfer to the
hotel. After breakfast we explore La Martiniere
College, Built and designed by French soldier
turned architect- Claude Martin, The Kaisarbagh
area, built between 1848 and 1850 by the last
nawab of Avadh, Wajid Ali Shah. Secunder bagh
Garden, it derives its name from the begum of
Nawab Wajid Ali Shah, Sikander Mahal. The Residency
compound one time, the official residence of
the British Resident, it was built in 1780-1800
and witnessed bitterest battles during the war
of independence in 1857, Bara Imambara, built
by Nawab Asaf-ud-Daula, to provide employment
and relief to his subjects during the calamitous
famine of 1784.

Day 8 In
Delhi |
|
After breakfast,
combined New and Old Delhi tour include: Rashtrapati
Bhavan (outside), the official residence of Presidents
of India, once the viceroys house, India Gate,
the war memorial, designed by Lutyens, commemorates
the Indian soldiers who died in the First World
War, Qutab Minar, built in early 13th century
as a victory tower, Humayuns Tomb, an early Mughal
architecture, and Rajghat, here father of the
nation, Mahatma Gandhi was cremated. |
