Calcutta – Dimapur– Kohima– Kaziranga– Guwahati– Imphal– Calcutta
Commence with the base of East India Company, Calcutta, city of some of notable imperial buildings and fly out in to northeast through Dimapur. A short drive from here through lofty mountain roads to Kohima (Nagaland). After paying homage at cemeteries, return to Dimapur and drive on Kaziranga to view rhinos. We drive to Guwahati, the gateway to north east to board Imphal (Manipur) bound flight. In this capital city we visit cemeteries and related sites before returning to Calcutta.
 
Day 1     Arrive Calcutta
Arrive Calcutta airport, on the arrival meet and greet with Garland and transfer to the hotel. Rest of the day at leisure.
 
 
Day 2     In Calcutta
After breakfast, sightseeing of Calcutta includes The Howrah Bridge and the Vidyasagar Setu frame the skyline of the riverfront, Victoria Memorial planned by Lord Curzon and opened by the Prince of Wales in 1921. Writers’ Building, a massive Gothic structure with ionic pillars – still the house of political power. St John’s Church, Built in 1787 with Grecian columns. The burial ground has the mausoleum of Job Charnock, founder of Calcutta. St Paul’s Cathedral, Constructed between 1839 and 1847 in Gothic style with stained glass windows and two Florentine frescoes, the cathedral is the largest in the city.
 
 
Day 3     Calcutta – Dimapur Fly
               Dimapur – Kohima Drive
After breakfast fly to Dimapur, arrive Dimapur airport, drive on to Kohima, arrive and check in at hotel. Remainder of the day at leisure.
 
 
Day 4     In Kohima
Full day to explore the city. Visit War cemetery constructed in the memory of the officer who made supreme sacrifices during World War II. The Cathedral at Aradurah Hill is an important landmark at Kohima. The State Museum showcases in dioramas, some of the most fascinating aspects of Naga tribal life, ancestral weaponry, carved gatepost, status pillars as well as traditional Naga costumes and jewelry.
 
 
Day 5     Kohima – Dimapur - Kaziranga Drive
After breakfast, drive to Kaziranga via Dimapur. Arrive and check in at the hotel. Kaziranga was declared a game reserve in 1926, to save the Indian One-horned rhino, which had become threatened with extinction at the turn of the century.
 
 
Day 6     In Kaziranga
Full day for Game Viewing (two) by jeeps and elephants.
 
 
Day 7     Kaziranga – Guwahati Drive
Morning depart and drive to Guwahati, arrive and check in at the hotel. Guwahati, the Gateway to the Northeast India and the most important destination is located on the bank of the Brahamaputra river. It is the largest commercial, industrial and educational center of the region.
 
 
Day 8     Guwahati – Imphal Fly
After leisurely breakfast, we fly to Imphal, the Capital of Manipur. Arrive and transfer to Hotel. Imphal, is surrounded by the northeastern hills and vast plains of India. Rest of the day free.
 
 
Day 9     In Imphal
Full day to explore war cemeteries commemorating the memories of British and Indian soldiers who died during the Second World War, managed by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. Shaheed Minar (tower) commemorates the Meeti and Tribals who were killed during 1891 wars with Colonial forces. Manipur State Museum, has a fairly good display of tribal heritage and a collection of portraits of Manipur's former rulers. Other tourist attraction is Ima Market (Khwairamband Bazaar), where about 3000 women sell their ware under one roof, anything from textile to garments, vegetable and fruits, grocery to meat, metal and jewelry, almost every item of day to day use.
 
 
Day 10     Imphal – Calcutta Fly
Morning at leisure. Early afternoon fly to Calcutta. Arrive and transfer to the hotel. Rest of the day at leisure.
 
 
Day 11     Departure
Transfer to international airport for homeward journey.

ENTRY FORMALITIES
Restricted Area Permit (RAP) is required to visit most of the northeastern states of India, subject to minimum 4 persons or more travelling together and sponsored by an Indian tour operator. Permits can be obtained from The Ministry of Home Affairs, All F.R.R.O at Calcutta, Delhi, Bombay, Madras, and The Chief Immigration Officer Madras; The commissioner Home, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh as well as Indian Missions abroad. “However” we will obtain the necessary permit/s for our clients provided we receive the required details well in time.
